What are the water rates?

Water rates are based on Meter Service size and amount used. We bill all customers quarterly.

Rolling Meadows Water Rates (effective Aug. 1st, 2024):

5/8 inch (standard residential) – $122.50 base charge with up to 10,000gl allowance.
3/4 inch – $147.00 base charge with up to 12,000gl allowance.
1 inch – $257.25 base charge with up to 21,000gl allowance.
2 inch – $771.76 base charge with up to 63,000gl allowance.
4 inch – $2,450.04 base charge with up to 198,000gl allowance.

Overage usage rate $10.83 per 1,000 gallons.

There is a 1.5% late charge assessed each month to every un paid-bill.

Windemere Highlands Rates (effective Aug. 1, 2024):

Overage usage rate $9.73 per 1,000 gallons.

How do I pay my bill?

1. Make a credit card or electronic check transaction via the payment tab at the top of this page.

2. Mail a check or money order via the return envelope included in your bill.

3. There is a payment drop box located at the Hurley Country Store on the outside wall facing Wamsley Place across from the Hurley Mountain Inn in Hurley, NY.

What pipes are the responsibility of the Water System?

The Water Corporation assumes responsibility of all distribution lines within the roads and right of ways as well as customer services up to the property line. Once past the curb valve, service lines are the responsibility of the customer. The Water Corporation is also responsible for the Water Meter within the house but no other plumbing.

What is an average water usage?

Average usage during a billing quater for a household is 12,000 gal. Large households may use as much as 30,000 gal and up, while small single occupant homes can use as little as 3,000 gal. Water usage will typically vary between summer and winter quarters.

What could cause my usage to be higher than average?

If you assume your house is using more water than it should be, a great place to start is by keeping track of the Water Meter reading. The Water Meter keeps a running total of the water that passes thru it. Take daily readings and keep track of how much water is used each day. All Water Meters have a flow indicator on them as well that lets you know when water is moving thru. The Water Meter is the best tool to keep track of your houses water usage.

Its is not uncommon to develop leaks in toilets. 90% of the time, unaccounted for water is lost thru the toilet. It is sometimes hard to diagnose since it is piped out thru the waste lines. In worst case scenarios, toilets can leak 1,000’s of gallons a day without you ever seeing a drop. Some toilet leaks are constant and some are intermittent making them hard to identify. There are multiple parts within a toilet that can cause a leak so be sure to thoroughly check all aspects of it.

Water softeners can also malfunction and pipe water to waste without it ever being seen. A water softener that regenerates too frequently can make up a lot of unaccounted for water.

Hoses left hooked up and pressurized can become problems as well. Generally one should shut off the hose bib after each use. A hose that is left unattended and under pressure can develop leaks and cause excessive usage as well.

Whats in my water? Where does it come from?

Every year we test all of our water supplies for a multitude of various “contaminants”. We then compile our Annual Water Quality Reports which list everything that was detected along with New York States regulatory health limits and information. The reports also have a description of where each water source is located, details of treatment and operation and helpful water conservation tips.
